Homework Assignment 2

Consider the figure shown below

Perform the following tasks in ABB RobotStudio:

  1. Model a rotated cube shown in figure above. Angles of rotation should be selected such that the 3D model looks similar to the situation shown in the figure.
  2. Model a conical end-effector (see the figure above).
  3. Attach the end effector to the robot’s faceplate.
  4. Define a tool frame that is associated with the end effector.
  5. Define a workobject frame that is shown in the figure. The origin of the workobject plane should be located at the corner of the cube. Z axis should be perpendicular to the top surface of the cube. X and Y axes should be along the top edges of the cube.
  6. Define a safe point (robtarget) relatively far away from the cube.
  7. Write and simulate a code that will draw the first two letters of your name in the X-Y plane of the defined workobject (the tip of the end-effector should draw these letters). The end-effector should start from the safe point.

Important notes:

  1. You are supposed to record the complete procedure and you have to submit the video (we will discuss the most feasible option for submitting the video during the class). Also, you have to record your voice that explains the steps that you are performing. You can use MS Power Point to record your screen and voice.
  2. The deadline is March 14, 2022 (Monday after the spring brake).
  3. Late homework assignments will not be accepted.
  4. Similar example we did during the class, and also I have made YouTube tutorial videos that explain the steps. Before performing the required tasks, first watch the YouTube videos given below.
